We have an old White Moutain Freezer. I purchased a new stainless steel cream can, thought it would be safer for food processing. Unfortunately the square drive hub on the top of the lid broke loose. It is spot welded to the s.s. top. The four spot welds are not adequate for a secure connection. White Moutain could do a better job with the lid. I had it welded at a local weld shop, but haven't tried it out yet. The overall freezer is very robust and that seems to be the only problem I have had with the unit.

P.S. We have had much sucess with White Moutain in spite of our mishap. Thanks White Moutain.

I come from a family where homemade ice cream is a ritual and a tradition. Nearly every family gathering (4 or more per year) involves the making of homemade ice cream. People have three servings. And then a few hours later, a few more. Its quite amazing. The quantity made and consumed is large.
Most families within the larger extended family have their own ice cream maker. And all of them own and swear by these White Mountain Electric models. They have owned and used them for many years, having previously burned out many other brands before finding this brand that just keeps going forever. They even own multiple ice cream barrels so they can make multiple flavors using one bucket/motor set. (a good idea actually)

Now that I have my own home, I need an ice cream maker of my own and this will be the model. After all, I would be teased, mocked, and generally looked down upon if I bought anything else. Because the experts (my relatives) know that this is the best.

I just bought this 4 quart hand crank ice cream maker, and our family fell in love with it after the first time we used it. The kids have no problem working the crank, since they know that when they are done they get fresh ice cream! Perfect for a hot summer day.
